A cooking vacation in Tuscany is something that everyone dreams about. Well, what we propose  is something different, that grew out of years of living in Tuscany. We live on La Strada del Vino, The Wine Route to Bolgheri, bordered by towering cypress trees and rows of vines, where the renown Super Tuscan Wines (Sassicaia and Ornellaia) are made. The region is known as The Etruscan Coast, where all the good and beauty come together: the vineyards stretching towards the Mediterranean, the wild nature of unexplored hills, the history and art of medieval villages, the local produce and culinary excellence. We have friends and family visiting regularly and one of our greatest pleasures is to share with them the place where we live and love, to experience our every day life with them. Our Cooking Vacation is designed to provide you with a real experience of life in Tuscany, the life we live every day.
We want you to be a part of our world, showing you the most authentic Tuscany away from the crowds, walking with you in charming villages like a true Italian, cooking and savoring our meals together with genuine Italian hospitality, and drinking some of the best wine from our beloved local producer. We will share our life with you the way we do with our friends and family!

Highlights :
• Taste Tuscan charcuterie, cured pork and wild boar cold cuts, processed following old recipes that have remained unchanged for centuries.
• Meet Annamaria who still makes by hand the traditional ‘Liquore del Pastore’ based on an 100 year old recipe.
• Learn about the history of a beloved local tailor who made a suit for Mick Jagger.
• Discover the Super Tuscan Wines, meeting two of Bolgheri’s greatest producers.
• Dine in one of the finest restaurants in the area, for a real treat at the end of the day!
• Visit some of our amazing nearby villages such as Castagneto, Bolgheri, Populonia, and Volterra and learn about their history.

Our cooking vacation is a 7 day, 6 night all-inclusive experience.

Your vacation includes :
• Welcome reception on arrival.
• 6 nights in a nice accommodation.
• All meals: 6 breakfast; 4 lunches (you will only be on your own in Volterra), and 6 dinners, including one in a fine-dining restaurant.
• 4 hands on cooking classes at Chicca’s farmhouse.
• 2 wine tastings: one visit to a vineyard where you will meet one of the famous Bolgheri wine producers; and one visit the oldest cellar in Bolgheri within the medieval castle.
• Daily excursions to the stunning medieval towns of Volterra, Bolgheri, Populonia, and Castagneto.
• Full van support for all the transfers including the trip to and from Pisa airport. All transfers including to and from the local train station upon arrival and departure. Easily accessible by train from Pisa Airport (1 hour) or Rome Airports (2.5 hours). Private transfers directly from the Pisa airport available upon request with additional fee.

We'll have four private cooking classes during the week. We will prepare a complete menu from antipasti to dessert using traditional recipes passed down in my family for generations. We’ll pair fresh, seasonal ingredients with world-class Tuscan wines.
Classes are fun and easy-going, yet informative where you will learn a lot of great tips and tricks to take home. All classes are taught in my Tuscan farmhouse La Casa Toscana.

DAY 1 Welcome to Tuscany!
Pick up at the local train station and transfer to your hotel. You will have time to settle in and rest. Private transfer also available from Pisa airport for additional cost.
6:30 p.m. Welcome cocktail, introductions at the hotel and overview of the week.
7:30 p.m. Dinner at a local wine bar and restaurant in the village.

DAY 2 World-Class Wine Tasting , The Magic of Bolgheri.
7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast in the hotel garden.
11:00 a.m. Hands-on cooking class at the farmhouse followed by lunch.
2:30 p.m. Free time to relax at the villa.
4:00 p.m. Visit the charming town of Bolgheri, home of some of the best wines in the world. Tour the castle’s old wine cellar from the year 700 and taste their world-class wines.
5:30 p.m. We’ll have time to explore and duck into the many artisan shops in the downtown area. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy dinner at a wine shop and restaurant to try local specialties and handmade pastas. We’ll end the day with delicious gelato.

DAY 3 Populonia and Baratti, the perfect view on the Mediterranean.
7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast in the hotel garden.
10:30 a.m. Visit the magnificent Golfo di Baratti with its pine wood and the Etruscan necropolis built 3,000 years ago. The gulf is dominated by the village of Populonia on top of the hill, a jewel in the middle of the Mediterranean. Walk the main road of Populonia with its artisan shops, and climb the castle’s tower with a 360° view of the sea and islands.
12:00 p.m. Lunch at a local restaurant in town.
3:00 p.m. Free time to relax at the villa, explore Castagneto Carducci or head to the beach.
6:00 p.m. Hands-on cooking class at the farmhouse followed by dinner.

DAY 4 Exploring Medieval Castagneto Carducci.
7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast in the hotel garden.
11:00 a.m. Hands-on cooking class followed by lunch at the farmhouse.
3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Free time to relax at the villa.
5:00 p.m. Walking tour of Castagneto Carducci. We’ll learn about the history of this small village and the famous poet for which it was named.
7:00 p.m. Dinner at a local pizzeria.

DAY 5 Visiting Mysterious Volterra, a Step back into the Past.
7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast at the hotel.
10:00 a.m. Visit the mysterious city of Volterra, where 3,000 years of history gives the city a unique atmosphere. Stroll down the historic center, step back in time and enjoy the timeless atmosphere as well as some of the most beautiful city gates. We'll visit handicraft workshops and see alabaster handmade objects, which Volterra is famous for.
1:00 p.m. Lunch on your own.
3:00 p.m. Return back to the hotel to relax before dinner.
6:00 p.m. Pre-dinner cocktail with a view of the Mediterranean sea. Then we’ll enjoy dinner at a fine dining restaurant famous for steaks sourced from a local butcher as well as fresh pastas and charcuterie.

DAY 6 La Strada del Vino, The Wine Road.
7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast in the garden of the hotel.
10:30 a.m. Visit a local vineyards on ‘La strada del vino,’ Wine Road. We will tour the vineyard, meet the producer, and taste four of their top wines. The owner will bring us into the world of wine making.
12:00 p.m. Visit a local winery established by one of the founding fathers of this region of wine. At the winery, we’ll enjoy a cheese-making demonstration and lunch cooked by a local farmer using her products.
3:00 p.m. Free time to relax at the villa, explore Castagneto Carducci or head to the beach.
6:00 p.m. Hands-on cooking class at the farmhouse and farewell dinner.

DAY 7 Goodbye Tuscany!
Transportation to local train station for departure. Private transfer also available to Pisa airport for additional cost.

Guests will stay at Villa le Luci, a bed and breakfast once privately owned by an established family in the medieval town of Castagneto Carducci. The villa sits atop the hillside providing stunning views of the valley below and the mediterranean sea. Each room at this bed and breakfast is unique and charming.
